Clinical chemistry is a key component of laboratory medicine. It applies chemical, physical and biological methods, generally to body fluids such as blood or urine, to assist clinicians and practitioners in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. In other words, clinical chemistry works together with all medical specialties and maintains a close connection with natural sciences and biomedical engineering.
The Institute of Clinical Chemistry (IKC) offers a broad, modern range of methods and parameters that is updated and expanded on an ongoing basis to reflect innovations. Internal and external reviews are performed at regular intervals to guarantee quality. The laboratory diagnostics of the IKC has been accredited since 1998 and includes a comprehensive range of biomarkers and laboratory parameters.
