From the online application until your first day of work

We are delighted that you are interested in working at the USZ! Here you will find detailed information about the various stages of the application process and answers to frequently asked questions.

Register online and upload your application documents. As soon as your application has been received, we will send you a confirmation email. The person responsible will examine your documents as soon as possible.

If we are unable to consider your application during the application process, you will be informed by email or telephone. It is still perfectly possible that we find your profile interesting. In this case, we will offer to retain your application documents and contact you again as soon as a suitable job becomes available.

Apply online

This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other better and to ask questions. Depending on the vacancy, different persons will be present. In addition to the line manager, these include persons from Recruitment and/or your future team, for example.

For certain vacancies, we will invite you to an online assessment. In this way, we can evaluate your personality and skills even better. The online assessment can be conducted from home and takes between 20 and 90 minutes

As a rule, we conduct a second interview if the first one went well. Any final unanswered questions are clarified and your online assessment may be discussed. A business case will be presented for certain vacancies, in order to assess your abilities and problem-solving skills based on a specific example. In addition, you will get to know your future team.

We will inform you shortly after the second interview about our decision. If you too are convinced that we are a good employer, you will then receive your employment order.

Even before you start working for us, you will receive useful information on your work and the USZ. During the “Welcome Day”, which takes places on the first working day of the month, you and other new employees will be welcomed by the Hospital Executive Board and equipped with the first utensils like your badge and work clothes. Now you can be personally introduced to the members of your team.

In the case of foreign applicants, we also need a copy of their residence permit and proof of recognition of qualifications by the relevant Swiss authority (if available).

About vacancies and the job newsletter

Open positions

You are welcome to apply for several positions. Your documents will be viewed by different departments. For this reason, you can also be invited to attend several interviews.

We accept spontaneous applications for individual positions too. They are also advertised on our Jobs page. You need to select the “always required” filter function for this purpose. The application process for spontaneous applications is identical to that for other positions. However, because we keep your documents on file for any future positions, it might take longer for us to respond to your application.

EU and EFTA nationals are entitled to live and work in Switzerland under the Agreement on the free movement of persons. Special regulations apply to Bulgarian, Romanian and Croatian nationals. Citizens of non-EU/non-EFTA countries are subject to a permit procedure.

Please note that in principle, you need to have a very good command of German to perform your duties at our hospital (at least B2 certification from the German Goethe-Institut). In addition, recognition of foreign qualifications is required for certain healthcare positions.

We only accept applications submitted directly via our recruitment tool. This enables us to guarantee that your application will be processed efficiently. Dossiers which are submitted by post can unfortunately not be considered for the above-mentioned reason.

You cannot attach any further documents once you have completed the application process for a position. Please contact the person responsible for the job (see job advertisement) to let them know.

You can apply for another position advertised online by us at any time.
