The Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich (CCCZ) is a strategic alliance of the University of Zurich (UZH) and University Hospital Zurich (USZ), including the Balgrist University Hospital and the University Children's Hospital Zurich. CCCZ strives for excellence in cancer research and cancer medicine, tight collaborations between scientists and physicians, and professional education in oncology.

Excellent Cancer Medicine

As an interdisciplinary oncology center of excellence, the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich offers cancer patients a precise diagnosis, innovative treatment options and personalized care.

At our 17 interdisciplinary organ centers, surgeons, oncologists, radiation therapists and other cancer experts work closely together to provide diagnostic and therapeutic concepts according to the highest medical standards.  This includes surgery, molecular diagnostics, imaging technologies, radiation therapy, and targeted system therapies.

At our weekly tumor boards, interdisciplinary teams of oncology specialists from various disciplines provide diagnosis and treatment recommendations for each individual patient. We develop and offer innovative clinical trials allowing our patients to benefit from novel anti-cancer treatments and the latest research results.

Our second opinion portal offers fast and uncomplicated access to the interdisciplinary expertise of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich. Our supportive counseling and treatment services offer individual treatments for a comprehensive physical, psychosocial and emotional care.

Innovative Cancer Research

The Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich integrates the cancer research activities of the University of Zurich (UZH), University Hospital Zurich (USZ), Balgrist University Hospital and the University Children’s Hospital Zurich. Dedicated CCCZ research areas have been established for Tumor Immunology, (Epi)Genetics & Genomics, Oncogenic Signaling and Imaging, Technology Development and Digitalization. In these programs, scientists and physicians from around 60 research groups and clinical departments work closely together to facilitate the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical application.

As an interdisciplinary research platform, CCCZ facilitates cutting edge research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of cancer, the establishment of novel technologies and the development of innovative clinical trials. The overall aim is to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic concepts towards precision oncology.

Interdisciplinary Education and knowledge transfer

The Outreach and Education Program of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich offers interdisciplinary training and education for scientists, physicians and cancer experts on all aspects of cancer research and cancer medicine.

CCCZ actively supports teaching and postgraduate education by hosting the PhD and Master Programs in Cancer Biology of the University of Zurich. The Fellow & Funding Program of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich offers training and education for outstanding researchers and physicians. The program fosters interdisciplinary research training and aims to integrate fellows into the laboratories, meetings and communication of the Zurich cancer research community.

The CCCZ curriculum offers multidisciplinary and structured oncological training for interns, which covers relevant topics of internal oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology. The CCCZ outreach program informs and engages patients, relatives and the society about all aspects of cancer.
