Department of Neonatology

The Department of Neonatology of the University Hospital Zurich has a long tradition and is today one of the largest and most renowned neonatological institutions in Switzerland. We are dedicated to the care of newborn and premature babies and their parents. Here, we provide patients in complex and difficult situations with highest calibre intensive medical treatment combined with empathetic care.

As a major centre for perinatal medicine we work closely with the Department of Obstetrics to offer family-centred dedicated and humane care for healthy and sick newborn babies and their parents. Our highly experienced team looks after premature babies attentively and on the basis of the latest scientific evidence. We assign a key person to every one of our tiny patients, and were one of the first neonatal centres in Europe to introduce this approach.
