Tyrosine PET (Neurooncology)

Tyrosine is a natural amino acid and an endogenous substance. 18F-ethyltyrosine (FET) is a tracer that, like amino acids, is taken up by brain-derived tumors and brain metastasis, but hardly by normal brain tissue. Therefore, the tracer is ideally suited for the evaluation of brain-derived tumors, metastases and for recurrence after therapy. To a certain extent therapy-induced changes in the brain can also be distinguished from tumor recurrences with Tyrosine PET.
