Complex cases are routinely discussed with experts in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular surgery and cardiac imaging at weekly meetings. The meetings focus on patients with coronary and valve diseases and are often complemented by dedicated teaching sessions for the fellows.“
Cieslik, MD: “The fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Andreas Grüntzig Catheterization Laboratories gave me a great opportunity to became familiar with all the diagnostic and procedural techniques for the treatment of coronary artery disease. During the two-year training program, I have acquired expertise as primary operator in a wide range of percutaneous coronary interventions under supervision of Prof. Templin`s team. As fellow, I have also had the chance to participate in various research projects which allowed me to improve my theoretical knowledge in the field of interventional cardiology.”
Candreva, MD: „The frequent use of intracoronary imaging (IVUS, OCT, and NIRS-IVUS) as well as advanced plaque-modification tools (rotational atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy) during the fellowship at the Andreas Grüntzig Catheterizaton Laboratories allows trainees to get familiar with the management of complex lesions and perform state-of-the-art coronary interventions in a protected and supervised environment.“
