Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship

The program provides full training in all aspects of interventional electrophysiology. During this program, fellows acquire the theoretical and technical skills necessary to care for patients with acute and chronic cardiac arrhythmias.

Our team covers the entire spectrum of clinical care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias in our two state-of-the-art and European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA)-certified electrophysiology laboratories.

The fellowship program offers procedural training in diagnostic electrophysiology procedures and catheter ablation of patients with supraventricular arrhythmias (AV nodal reentry tachycardia, AV reentry tachycardia in the presence of accessory pathways, atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation), ventricular tachyarrhythmias (idiopathic or in the presence of an underlying structural heart disease; endocardial and epicardial approach), as well as arrhythmias in patients with congenital heart disease. Moreover, the fellows will learn implantation of pacemakers (including leadless devices, conduction system pacing), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (including subcutaneous devices), cardiac resynchronization devices, implantable event recorders, as well as extraction of device/lead systems. During weekend and night calls, fellows gain invaluable experience in treating complex patients with various cardiac arrhythmias.

Fellows are expected and encouraged to participate in various clinical and translational research projects of our Cardiac Arrhythmia Division.

For international candidates

Those who are interested for the Elecrophysiology Training Program should provide a German-language certificate (minimum level B2) at the beginning of their fellowship. Administrative support will be provided for the visa and working permit application processes.

Please be aware that we currently do not offer financial support or training grants. However, candidates will be supported in their grant applications (i.e. EHRA fellowship).
